Lake Zurich handles Vernon Hills

Natalie Gora and Amanda Orchard pounded 8 kills apiece, and Lake Zurich’s girls volleyball team defeated Vernon Hills 27-25, 25-15 in North Suburban Conference crossover Tuesday night.

Layne Self added 5 kills, Amelia Leng had 3 blocks and Kristen Walding dished out 22 assists for Lake Zurich (20-10). Orchard also served 5 aces, while Walding and Self delivered two apiece.

Vernon Hills (18-12) received 8 kills from Megan Meline and 3 blocks apiece from Shannon Nugent and Sarah Lehman. Lehman set 44 of 45 with 12 assists.

Wauconda d. Warren: Megan Tallman had 4 kills, 10 digs and 2 aces, as the Bulldogs pulled out the North Suburban crossover 25-23, 25-20.

Wauconda (19-10) also got 3 kills apiece from Erinn Hellweg, Emily Holub and Susan Karhoff. Karhoff and Tallman dished out 7 and 5 assists, respectively.

Hellweg served 5 aces, while Ava Wilhelm and Karhoff also had two apiece.

Warren was led by Libby Perrone (64-of-66 setting, 13 assists, 3 aces), Paige Jespersen (4 kills, 3 aces), Kendall Farmer (4 kills, 2 blocks) and Danielle Buschick (3 kills).

Libertyville d. Grant: The Wildcats won 25-13, 26-24 in a North Suburban crossover.

Grant got 12 digs from Scottley Sandnes and 3 kills from Beka Couch.

Antioch d. Zion-Benton: Jessica Ploss had 7 kills and 4 blocks, and the Sequoits captured a 25-13, 25-21 decision in North Suburban crossover action.

Brianna Grant, Elena Kelsh and Samantha Falco added 3 kills apiece for Antioch (15-14). Marissa Grant lofted 14 assists, and Brianna Grant delivered 4 aces. Sarah Gagnon served 2 aces and registered 14 digs. Falco had 3 blocks, as well.

“Strong showing,” Antioch coach Glen Heitman said. “The girls committed to playing defense and picked up a lot of balls. We had a strong blocking night and served aggressively.”

Mundelein d. Round Lake: The Mustangs’ 25-16, 25-18 win was highlighted by Courtney Perreault’s 9 kills.

Karen Chin set 45 of 45 with 14 assists and also slammed 4 kills for Mundelein (16-13) in the North Suburban crossover.

Karolina Sierzputowska served 2 aces for the Mustangs, and Madi Wilcox had 2 kills and 5 assists (16-of-16 setting).

Round Lake’s Bianca Duna dished out 10 assists on 47-of-47 setting. Kailey Parlogean had 4 blocks and 3 kills for the Panthers, while Sara Plasencia registered 13 digs. Izzy Rodriguez had 3 kills and 10 digs.

Stevenson d. North Chicago: Khailia Donaldson delivered 7 kills on 7-of-7 hitting and served 6 of 6 with 2 aces, leading the Patriots to a 25-6, 25-6 win in their North Suburban crossover.

Alexa Gold had 7 aces, 7 digs and 2 kills for Stevenson (23-7), and Hannah Kay had five. The Patriots also received 3 kills apiece from Emily Wings and Christina Pritchett. Wings set 21 of 22 with 14 assists. Pritchett also had 4 aces.
