Lake Co. college art work competition deadline approaches

The deadline to submit art work to the College of Lake County's 30th annual Recent Works: A Juried Competition is Friday, Sept. 10.

The Robert T. Wright Gallery is sponsoring the annual art competition, which includes all fine art media and is open to all artists who reside or work in Lake County.

Approximately $2,000 will be presented in cash prizes and purchase awards for the college's art collection. Selections for the show will be made by Dubhe Carreño of the Dubhe Carreño Gallery in Chicago and Charlotte Rollman, professor of art at Northern Illinois University.

Entry forms and artist membership forms are available in the gallery or by calling (847) 543-2240. Forms may be downloaded on the gallery's website at http://gallery.clcillinois.edu.

There is a $20 entry fee for one or two pieces. Artist members receive a $5 entry fee discount and may also exhibit in the annual Members Exhibition. Jury selections are made from actual works, not digital files or slides.

The Recent Works exhibit will be on view in the gallery from Oct. 1 through Nov. 7. An opening reception will be held in the gallery on Friday, Oct. 1 from 7-9 p.m. It is free and open to the public.

The Robert T. Wright Community Gallery of Art on the Grayslake Campus is a project of the College of Lake County Foundation and is located at 19351 W. Washington St. For information, contact curator Steve Jones at (847) 543-2240 or at sjones@clcillinois.edu. Or visit http://gallery.clcillinois.edu/.
