Winemaking class, "From Grape to Glass" in McHenry County

If you have ever wondered how wine is made, or if you have contemplated trying your hand at creating your own label, you will want to plan on attending "The Art of Wine: From Grape to Glass."

The program, slated for Saturday, July 24, is jointly sponsored by the University of Illinois Extension, McHenry County and the McHenry County Farm Bureau.

Brad Beam, University of Illinois Extension, Enology Specialist, will be focusing on the Illinois Wine Industry, wine grapes, selection, harvest, quality and overview of the equipment and process.

After lunch, participants will go through the actual steps involved in making wine. (Sorry no sampling!) "From Grape to Glass" will begin at 9 a.m. and conclude at 3 p.m. During lunch, participants will have the opportunity to network with area vendors of wine making equipment and supplies.

Online registration is currently available at web.extension.illinois.edu/mchenry/. Cost of the program is $25 per participant and includes coffee, rolls and lunch as well as program materials. Participants can also register by mail by contacting University of Illinois Extension, McHenry County, P.O. Box 1430, Woodstock, IL 60098. Space is limited.
