Classes on aviation offered at MCC
McHenry County College's Continuing Education Department will offer aviation-related classes this fall, including career exploration in aviation and aviation ground school.
Aviation Industry Careers: Class meets from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 28, in room A115, where students will explore careers in the aviation industry, as well as an introduction to the process of becoming a pilot. Topics presented in a discussion style format will include: aviation employment opportunities and education requirements, working conditions and average salaries. Those interested in flight training or aircraft ownership will learn about the process of becoming a pilot. The facilitator, Robert Werderich, is a professional airline captain with more than 10,000 flight hours, an aircraft owner and a state of Illinois certified schoolteacher and president of Illinois Aviation Academy Inc. Coffee and doughnuts will be provided. Cost is $25. Use course ID NBR S01 008 when registering.
Aviation Ground School: Class meets from 8 to 11 a.m. Saturdays, Sept. 11-Dec. 18, in Room A213. Students may prepare for the Private Pilot's License exam by learning about aerodynamics, flight controls and instruments, airport and airspace awareness, weight and balance, aircraft performance, basic meteorology, federal regulations, flight physiology and emergency preparedness. Cost is $159. Books and materials cost $90. Use course ID NBR S02 009 when registering.
