Alexandria University President Osama Ibrahim at COD April 21

The College of DuPage Middle East Committee will host a special presentation by Alexandria University President Dr. Osama Ibrahim on Saturday, April 21, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the College's Culinary & Hospitality Center Amphitheatre.

During this program, Dr. Ibrahim will discuss his personal experiences as the first-ever elected president of a state university in Egypt, as well as his vision for the University of Alexandria and collaboration with foreign institutions.

A Professor of Ophthalmology at Alexandria University, Dr. Ibrahim has promoted Refractive Surgery all over the Arab world and Middle East and has helped to establish many centers by educating, training and supervising colleagues from around the world. He is the CEO of the chain “Roayah,” which has expanded to include six centers in Egypt and two in the Arab world. In addition, Dr. Ibrahim was recently selected to serve on an elite commission to draft Egypt's new Constitution.

In 2010, Alexandria University had a total undergraduate enrollment of 176,872 students, with a teaching staff of 6,272. It is the only university in an Arab country – and the second in Africa – to achieve a status in the Times Higher Education World University Ranking as one of the top 200 universities worldwide. In addition, for the second time in 2011, Alexandria University received a ranking on the prestigious QS World University Ranking, and most recently, was included in the Shanghai Ranking as a 500+ universities from the approximately 17,000 universities of the world.
