Former Rock Star and Addict Stephen Thorpe Shares His Story at COD April 30

From playing a packed house at Madison Square Garden to his arrival at an emergency room with no vital signs, former rock star Stephen Thorpe will share his story of fame and fortune, drugs and (near) death, at a lecture on Monday, April 30, from 12 to 12:40 p.m. at the Health and Science Center, Room 1234, at College of DuPage.

During this free program, Thorpe will discuss his journey of searching for the euphoric (natural) highs of playing music on stage with some of the world's most famous musicians – followed by years of abusing drugs and alcohol.

Sober since a trip to the emergency room three years ago where he was pronounced clinically dead, Thorpe shares his vivid life story as an inspiration to others. Now 63, he is currently enrolled in substance abuse counseling classes at College of DuPage and is starting a non-profit organization specifically for musicians who are abusers.
