America's Boating Course--offered in Hoffman Estates

Thinking of buying a boat? Get ready to enjoy your boat by learning about boats, boat handling, required safety equipment, navigation aids, knots and lines and more! This five-week course is an excellent primer for anyone who plans to operate or ride aboard a recreational boat.

The ABC Boating Course is approved by the National Association of State Boating Law Administrators (NASBLA), is recognized by the United States Coast Guard, and is accepted by most states as meeting their requirements for a safety certificate. Many insurance companies offer a discount to boaters that have completed the course.

The course is offered by the Fox Valley Sail and Power Squadron, a unit of the United States Power Squadrons® (USPS). USPS is America's largest non-profit boating organization and provides local boating education support via over 400 local squadrons all over the United States.

The course will be offered at the Cabela's store in Hoffman Estates on May 8, 10, 15, 17 and 22 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:45 p.m. The cost of the course materials is $50 per person or $75 per couple sharing a book. Payment is due on the first night of class.
