Find out what it's like to be an Elgin copEver wonder what it's like to be an Elgin police officer? Then try out the spring 2010 citizen's police academy. Community members are invited to sign up for classes that aim to teach people about how officers do their job. Classes are held every Monday from March 24 to May 24. The ball will be held at 7:30 p.m. Friday, March 19 at the Crystal Lake Holiday Inn. It's one way the foundation is celebrating Women's History Month - men and women are invited to the event that is raising money for women, 24 years and older, to attend MCC. The application deadline is Friday, March 12. Proposals may be dropped off between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. at the township office, 729 S. McLean Blvd., Elgin. They will be considered by the township board at its April 7 meeting. Personal presentations are not necessary but encouraged. Grants will be awarded in May. Call (847) 741-2045 for details.
