MCC interim VP stepping down from school
A high-level administrator has announced his resignation from McHenry County College.
Frank Zeller, interim vice president for administrative services and the treasurer, is leaving the school due to family-related issues, according to a news release.
Zeller, who held the post for five months, lives more than two hours away from the Crystal Lake campus, which meant he lived in an apartment near the campus during the week and spent his weekends at home near LaSalle or on the road commuting.
But current issues facing his family require him to be closer to home, said college spokeswoman Christina Haggerty. Zeller declined to elaborate on them.
His last day is Jan. 22.
"I am disappointed to be leaving MCC at such an exciting time," Zeller said in the release.
MCC paid Zeller $11,750 a month for his contracted services.
He marks the third top-level administrator to cite family reasons for an exit.
Last fall, former interim President Larry Tyree said personal and family matters that emerged required his immediate return to his home state of Florida. He declined to detail the issues and denied he was leaving to seek employment in Florida.
As well, former President Walter Packard last year said his wife's chronic illness forced him to seek a less-demanding job at the school in the form of president emeritus.
The school meanwhile, is already lining up candidates to replace Zeller. He has said he would help during the transition.
He did not receive benefits and will only receive payment through his last day.
