CLC speech team nabs bronze
Grayslake-based College of Lake County’s speech team recently won a bronze award at the 2012 Phi Rho Pi National Speech Tournament in Schaumburg.
In individual events, Logan Nagel of Lake Villa earned gold in impromptu speaking and bronze in prose reading, speech to entertain. Stacy Bagrova of Deerfield earned gold in informative speaking and bronzed in critical analysis.
Coach Lynn Harper won the prestigious Collie-Taylor Award. That award goes to the coach most recognized by the students at the national tournament for inspiration and influence.
“It was a reward she truly deserved for being a special coach and educator,” said Joel Chmara, CLC’s assistant speech team coach and a former Collie-Taylor Award winner.
