Advocate Good Shepherd Auxiliary completes Million Dollar Pledge

Barrington, IL- During a small celebration held Thursday evening, the Auxiliary of Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital presented their final installment of a $1.1 million pledge to support the building of the state-of-the-art cardiac care center and expanded emergency department.

“Closing out this pledge was a really good feeling,” said Esther Schultz, who has been an Auxiliary member since before the hospital even opened. “We raised money for our pledge through events like Art in the Barn, our Catchpenny Resale Shop, the Pear Tree Gift Shop and private donations.

Irv Kamradt, outgoing president, said they decided to support the building of the Wayne and Patricia Kocourek Cardiac Care Center when they realized the impact it would have on the community. “Many cardiac patients were traveling to other hospitals outside our service area for their heart care, before we opened. We needed the added patient rooms as well as new ORs in order to provide a comprehensive cardiac program.” Supporting the expansion of the Emergency Department was an added bonus.

The Auxiliary of Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital is made up of over 300 members committed to making a difference in the health of their community. All moneys raised by the Auxiliary are used to enhance the services of Good Shepherd Hospital in the form of new equipment, special services, scholarships and hospital expansion.
