Kids, teens learn STEM and art-related subjects at CLC's summer Explore and Engage camps

Looking for the ultimate learning experience for your children this summer? Send them to college! Explore Camps, as well as Engage STEM Career Exploration Experiences at the College of Lake County, provide academic enrichment cleverly disguised as fun.

Programs are offered for children in grades 1-12 from June 10 through July 25, Monday through Thursday from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. or 1-4 p.m. Convenient half-day camps can be combined for a full-day option. Although most camps are held at CLC's Grayslake Campus, some sessions are offered at the Southlake Campus in Vernon Hills. Camps do not meet in the week of July 4.

The 11 Explore camps, designed for grades 1-8, cover STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art and math) topics ranging from digital photography to field biology to writing short stories. The Engage career exploration experiences, designed for grades 9-12, cover nine fields. They include: automotive technology, broadcasting/radio, criminal justice, culinary, engineering, innovation, lasers/photonics/optics, nursing and healthcare and photography.

Cost of each camp ranges from $175 to $225, and a limited number of partial scholarships are available. Visit www.clcillinois.edu/youth/forms for a scholarship application, which is to be submitted at the same time as the camp registration form. Visit www.clcillinois.edu/summercamps for camp descriptions, instructor bios, schedules, registration information and forms. For more information on both the Explore and Engage programs, call (847) 543-2980 or email CPEInfo@clcillinois.edu. Early registration is encouraged, as camps fill quickly.

For adults interested in college-level courses, space is available for CLC's Summer Session, which begins June 10, and Fall Semester starting Aug. 19. For details, visit www.clcillinois.edu/register-for-summer-and-fall.
