March 13: 10th Annual 'Empty Bowls' fundraiser at CLC to fight hunger
College of Lake County students studying ceramic art and culinary management are teaming up to fight hunger in the 10th Annual Empty Bowls fundraiser from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, March 13 on the Grayslake Campus. Proceeds will benefit the Northern Illinois Food Bank (www.northernilfoodbank.org) and the CLC Share Market providing food for limited-income students.
For a minimum donation of $15 per bowl, plate or cup, attendees can select a piece of handmade pottery and receive a serving of chili and cornbread. Students and faculty from the ceramics department have created more than 1,000 pieces for the event. CLC's hospitality and culinary management students will prepare and serve the food.
The event will take place in the Student Activities Multipurpose Room C106. Visitor parking is available in parking lots 4 and 5. Coming in April, a huge variety of hand-crafted pottery will be on sale at the semi-annual Ceramics department and Community Clay Association Ceramics Sale April 3 and 4 in the Robert T. Wright Community Gallery of Art at the Grayslake Campus. Hours for the sale are 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday and 7:30-10 a.m. Thursday. Sales help support the visiting artist program, field trips, scholarships and the purchase of new equipment for the studio.
