MCC interim president steps down for 'personal, family matters'
McHenry County College's Interim President Larry W. Tyree on Monday night resigned from the school during a special board meeting, citing "personal and family matters" in his home state of Florida that require his immediate attention and attendance, according to a news release.
Tyree had been at the helm a bit more than a month, becoming the school's interim president Aug. 17.
He was previously the interim president at Monroe Community College in Rochester, N.Y.
At McHenry County College, he replaced former President Walter Packard, now the school's president emeritus.
The board accepted Tyree's resignation and tapped Kathleen Plinske, the school's vice president for institutional effectiveness, to replace him in the interim post.
Tyree's last day is Oct. 17. Plinske's tenure begins the same day and ends June 30, 2010.
Plinske, a Crystal Lake native, has vowed to "provide consistency and calm in a period of transition" while the college seeks a permanent president.
