Enjoy deals, boost businesses during McHenry County Restaurant Week Feb. 19-28

Area foodies will have even more to salivate over during this year's McHenry County Restaurant Week, as the number of participating restaurants continues to grow.

The third annual event is set for Friday, Feb. 19, through Sunday, Feb. 28.

From Algonquin to Woodstock, Cary to McHenry, Hebron, Lakemoor and Huntley to Crystal Lake, Spring Grove, McCullom Lake and Richmond, more than a dozen restaurants are queuing up to impress with special menus, deep discounts and terrific mix-and-match deals. All are set to provide diners with a solid sense of their offerings - and a delicious reason to return.

Own a McHenry County restaurant? Participation is free this year. And it's not too late to sign up at mchenrycorestaurantweek.com.

"As most people are aware, the pandemic has hit our amazing eateries and their employees especially hard," said Jaki Berggren, executive director of Visit McHenry County, a Huntley-based nonprofit that markets the area's unique shops, restaurants, events and points of interest to enhance the experience of visitors and residents alike.

"We are especially hopeful that, now more than ever, people will check out all of the amazing restaurants, craft breweries, gastro pubs and more that are featured in this year's restaurant week lineup," Berggren continued. "There are takeout and dine-in options to suit all tastes and budgets."

The complete participant list is available at mchenrycorestaurantweek.com, where readers also will find menus, locations, eatery descriptions and all of the scrumptious Restaurant Week deals.

For example, a dinner for two featuring lobster tail, filet medallions, garlic mashed potatoes, house salad and stuffed mushroom appetizers is among the fare to be featured at Port Edward's. The Algonquin restaurant is offering this restaurant week deal for $60.

Or how about a free appetizer at Offsides in Woodstock? It's yours when you dine in and mention code "restaurantweek."

Visit Lucky Bernie's in Spring Grove, Woodstock or Huntley Feb. 19-28 for a buy-one-get-one-half-off sandwich deal, or $2 off any pizza plus $5 match play.

"The deals are plentiful, and the chefs are really out to wow us with their most creative flair," said Kristine Austin, sales and marketing manager for Visit McHenry County. "Whether you drop in and enjoy the special offer at your favorite place or find something new to try, you really can't go wrong."

As of early this week, this year's participants, along with those already mentioned, include: Cafe 31 North, McHenry; Cary Ale House & Brewing Co.; Casting Whimsy, Ethereal Confections and Shadowview Brewing, Woodstock; Crystal Lake Brewing, El Molino Pizzeria & Bakery and Duke's Ale House and Kitchen, Crystal Lake; Cullom Knoll in McCullom Lake; Hoops Sports Bar & Grill, Hebron; The Longshot Pub, Lakemoor; Richmond Cafe; and Huntley's Tacos Locos.
