Aug. 21-22: Auditions for CLC fall children's show 'Junie B. Jones is Not a Crook!'

Actors age 16 and above are invited to audition for the College of Lake County's fall children's show "Junie B. Jones is Not a Crook!" Auditions start at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 21 and Wednesday, Aug. 22 in the Studio Theatre, James Lumber Center for the Performing Arts, Grayslake Campus. The location is 19351 W. Washington St. in Grayslake.

Those auditioning should prepare one 60-90 second comedic monologue or light monologue from a children's play. Wear comfortable clothes that allow you to move easily. All actors, except for Junie, will be cast in double or triple roles. Bring your imagination and be ready to create characters. You need only attend Tuesday or Wednesday auditions, not both. Please bring an acting resume if you have one and also a photo (candid one is acceptable). Callbacks take place Thursday, Aug. 23 at 6:30 p.m.

Rehearsals begin Monday, Aug. 27 and are held Monday through Thursday evenings, with a possible, occasional Friday or Sunday rehearsal depending on availability of actors and necessity. You must be available for all rehearsals from Sept. 17 through the performances. Showtimes are: Thursday, Sept. 27 and Friday, Sept. 28 at 10 a.m.; Saturday, Sept. 29 at 3 p.m. and 7 p.m.; and Sunday, Sept. 30 at 2 p.m.

"Junie B. Jones is Not a Crook!" is based on author Barbara Park's fictional work, part of the best-selling "Junie B. Jones" children's book series. The namesake Junie B. is known as the World's Funniest Kindergartner, but a terrible thing has happened to her: Someone took her new black furry mittens-and kept them! The person didn't even put them in the Lost and Found at school. So when Junie B. finds a wonderful pen on the floor, should she be allowed to keep it?

The show is being directed by Alicia Hall. For audition information, contact Hall at ahall1@clcillinois.edu. To stay current on CLC Theatre, visit the department's Facebook page.
