'Impact: inspire' Skate Deck Art Show opens June 9

The Peace of Art Gallery in Bloomingdale is hosting the "IMPACT: inspire" Skate Deck Art Show and Charity Board Auction. The exhibit continues through Monday, July 8, at the gallery inside Stratford Square Mall in Bloomingdale.

It features an exhibition of new works and an installation of skate decks titled "IMPACT: inspire." More than 20 artists across North America are participating in this showcase.

With its mission as a positive impact art gallery, Peace of Art Gallery wanted to create a showcase with a "wow!" factor.

When they came across Warp Corps, they knew it was a match, as their minds and missions were aligned. They knew together they could create something beautiful out of this showcase; an ode to the skateboarding culture and outreach.

For the first week, a selection of skate decks will be on auction via eBay. It will raise funds to help Warp Corps succeed in its mission of "prevention through engagement."

Warp Corps is a collective of activists working together to combat the nation's suicide and substance abuse epidemic based out of McHenry County.

Through active engagement of each individual's organic passions, they believe that they can provide better opportunities for future generations. This collective engages youth in art, music and leadership in a positive way showcasing self-expression, health and leadership.

By doing so, they are helping keep our communities safe. To learn more about Warp Corps, visit warpcorps.org.
