The Land Conservancy of McHenry County, a nonprofit organization that works with landowners and communities throughout McHenry County to preserve scenic, natural and agricultural land resources for the benefit of future generations, invites members of the public to attend this year's "Beginner's Chainsaw Workshop" from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 19.

Join them at Hennen Conservation Area, 4622 Dean St. in Woodstock, as they guide you through the basics and give you hands-on experience.

TLC's ecologist, Melissa Grycan, will introduce the participants to personal protective equipment, basic chainsaw maintenance, and the development of technique to safely fell a tree and cut it up.

This course is tailored toward beginners who have never used a chainsaw.

This workshop will be held both indoors and outdoors, so dress accordingly.

Space is limited, so please preregister to ensure your spot. Go to conserveMC.org and hover over "Get Involved" and click on "Learn New Skills" to register.

Fill out the registration form and either drop it off or mail to the office, along with the fee.

Cost is $35 for members or $50 for nonmembers.

For details, contact Melissa at mgrycan@conservemc.org or (815) 337-9502.
