Health Department Dietitian Discusses How Men Can Improve Their Health, June 20

If you are a man, are you neglecting your health? In recognition of National Men's Health Week, June 15 - 21, the Lake County Health Department/Community Health Center has coordinated a special event focused on men's health. Health Department Dietitian Demetrius Willis will discuss how men can lead healthier and longer lives. This free event will take place at the Waukegan Community Church, 1016 Grand Avenue in Waukegan on Saturday, June 20, from 9 to 10 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall.

"There are simple things men can do every day to improve their health and stay healthy," said Demetrius Willis with the Health Department. "Eating a variety of fruits and vegetables every day, getting more physical activity and enough rest are just a few. It is easy to follow steps to be healthier and stronger."

Men's Health Week, celebrated annually during the week preceding and including Father's Day, honors the importance of men's health and wellness. Its purpose is to heighten the awareness of preventable health problems and encourage early detection and treatment of disease among men and boys.
