COD to Host Excellence in History Presentation April 14

College of DuPage will host keynote speaker Edward Bates as part of the 20th annual Carter D. Carroll Excellence in History Awards ceremony on Monday, April 14.

This presentation - which is free and open to the public - will take place from 7 to 8 p.m. in the Health and Science Center (HSC), Room 1234, on the College's main campus, 425 Fawell Blvd., in Glen Ellyn.

During his program, Bates will discuss "Urban and Rural Agricultural Migrants from Mexico: Ethnic Labor Agencies and Government Programs in the Laredo-San Antonio Corridor, 1915 to 1925," which will cover factors that contributed to greatly increased immigration from Northern Mexico in the early 1900s, the effects this influx in population had on the labor market and the subsequent living conditions experienced by immigrant families.
