Historic Presentation: When Trolleys Rode the Prairie Path

West Chicago, Illinois: March 6, 2013 - The West Chicago Historical Society will be offering an entertaining program on Sunday, March 17, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at the Wayne and Helen Fox Community Center, 306 Main Street, that will rekindle memories and bring history alive. When Trolleys Rode the Prairie Path, presented by noted historian Steve Hyett, includes a multi-projector show about the electric interurban railroad affectionately known as the "Roarin' Elgin".

The electric rail line began running in 1902 on streetcar tracks in downtown Aurora, and then on its own private right-of-way on what is now known as the Prairie Path. The line's major stops in DuPage County were Wheaton, Glen Ellyn, Lombard, Villa Park, Elmhurst, West Chicago, and Warrenville. It was a great ride, according to Hyett who will lead the lively program which is free to the public. Light refreshments will be served.
