Mortgage relief outreach

To assist area homeowners struggling with mortgage payments and facing the threat of foreclosure, State Rep. Carol Sente will host a Mortgage Relief Project outreach event on Saturday, June 9 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the College of Lake County’s Southlake Campus at 1120 S. Milwaukee Ave., Vernon Hills. Attendees will learn about new government programs that can help lower mortgage payments, legal rights, credit counseling and how to recognize signs of mortgage fraud. HUD-certified counselors will be present for private, one-on-one counseling to help keep residents in their homes. Homeowners should bring their latest mortgage documents, two most recent pay stubs and a state ID or driver’s license. For a list of all documents needed to complete an application for loan modification, to register in advance for the event, or general information, call Sente’s constituent office at (847) 478-9909. Registration on the day of the event is 9 a.m. to noon.
