CLC swears in new police chief
College of Lake County’s new police chief, Thomas K. Guenther, took the oath of office at Tuesday night’s board meeting.
Guenther was appointed to the post in February after a nationwide search. Some CLC Police Department employees and Guenther’s wife, Karen, were in the audience.
Before coming to Grayslake-based CLC, Guenther was a commander with the Evanston Police Department, where he had been employed since 1985. Before that he was a campus police officer for the Northwestern University Department of Public Safety from 1983 to 1985.
Guenther holds a master’s degree in organizational leadership and management from Lewis University and a bachelor’s degree in administration of justice from Southern Illinois University.
