COD named 'Entitled Institution' for Gateways to Opportunity Credentials
College of DuPage recently was named an entitled institution for the Early Childhood Education (ECE) Credentials Levels 2-4 from Gateways to Opportunity.
As an entitled institution through 2017, COD students have the opportunity to qualify for credentials as they take courses and complete their degree in Early Childhood Education. College faculty members have worked diligently to align their courses with the Gateways to Opportunity competencies, which reflect multiple professional standards, including national Association for the Education of Youth Children (NAEYC) and the Illinois Professional Teaching Standards.
In a time when Early Childhood Education is defining itself as a field that promotes professional development College of DuPage sought this designation to help further this goal by graduating students ready to provide quality care and education to young children.
Gateways to Opportunity, the Illinois Professional Development System, is administered by the Illinois Network of Child Care Resource & Referral Agencies and is designed to provide guidance, support and recognition to practitioners who serve children and families in Illinois.
