You’re invited to MCC screening of ‘Inequality for All’ Nov. 20

Submitted by McHenry County College

McHenry County College will host a screening of “Inequality for All” at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 20, in Room B166-167. The event is sponsored by MCC’s chapter of College Democrats and MCC Student Life.

“Inequality for All” focuses on the economic imbalances and how it affects middle class citizens. The film features Robert Reich, a professor, best-selling author and Secretary of Labor in Bill Clinton’s administration. He uses humor and an array of facts to explain how the issue of economic inequality affects all Americans. Reich also demonstrates how the widening income gap has devastating impact on the American economy. For example, one statistic in the film, taken from Forbes magazine, states that the richest 400 Americans have more wealth than half of the population of the United States.

The film is described as an intimate portrait of a man whose lifelong goal remains protecting those who are unable to protect themselves. Through his singular perspective, Reich explains how the massive consolidation of wealth by a precious few threatens the viability of the American workforce and the foundation of democracy itself. The screening is free and open to the public. Donations are welcome and will benefit MCC’s chapter of College Democrats.

The college is at 8900 Route 14 in Crystal Lake. For information, call the Student Life Office at (815) 455-8550.
