MCC presents Second Sunday, St. Patrick’s Day concerts

McHenry County College presents two performaces this month, including the popular Second Sunday Concert on March 10 with woodwind quintet Winds Off the Lake, beginning with a pre-concert lecture at 2:30 p.m. by Russ Henning, followed by the concert at 3 p.m. On Wednesday, March 13, a special St. Patrick’s Day concert will feature Irish music and dance at 7 p.m. Both concerts take place in the Luecht Conference Center.

The Winds Off the Lake is returning to MCC for its 17th Second Sunday concert featuring Sue Childress on flute, Joyce Beernink on clarinet, Kathy Krepel on oboe, Randy Sundell on bassoon and Russ Henning on French horn. A reception will follow the concert.

The St. Patrick’s Day concert on March 13 will feature Pat Gaughan and L.J. Slavin who will perform favorite Irish songs, ballads and instrumental tunes. Gaughan is an adjunct music instructor at MCC.

The McNulty Irish Dancers will also perform traditional Irish jigs, reels and hornpipes, both in soft shoe and hard shoe. The McNulty School of Irish Dance is one of the largest, most active dance schools in the Midwest. McNulty Dancers are recognized internationally as World, National and Midwest Regional Champions.
