Advocate Good Shepherd hosts Women and Heart Disease Community Lecture
Barrington, IL- While typically considered a men's health problem, more women die of heart disease each year. Unfortunately women's symptoms can present much differently than men's making it hard to detect.
On February 21, Dr. Thomas Leskovac, MD, a board-certified cardiologist on the staff of Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital, will discuss how men's and women's symptoms differ and what women need to watch for. “When women suffer a heart attack, they often experience breathlessness, flu-like symptoms, pain in the upper back and anxiety…all symptoms that can be confused with many other conditions,” says Dr. Leskovac. Through his presentation women can learn the steps to understand their unique symptoms and begin to reduce their risk of heart disease.
The lecture is free and will take place in the Prairie Room at Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital, 450 W. Highway 22 in Barrington at 6:30 pm. A light meal will be provided.
