Lancers bounce back, rock Rock County
After suffering its first lost of the season to the No. 2 team in the nation last Saturday, the College of Lake County men’s basketball team bounced back with an 82-48 drubbing of Wisconsin-Rock County Tuesday night.
The Lancers were slow out of the blocks, leading only by 6 at halftime on 34-percent shooting. But led by the strong inside play of the explosive Alex Marzette and Alex Morgunov, the Lancers took control minutes into the second half with a 21-3 run to put the game out of reach.
The Lancers had balanced scoring, with four players in double figures. CLC outscored UW-Rock County 45—17 in the second half.
“We didn’t come out the way we should have,” Lancers coach Joe Paul said. “Sometimes after a big game, (like when) we gave the No. 2 team in the nation a serious challenge, you’re going to have a letdown. We can’t let that happen again, but we played a strong second half.”
The Lancers (5-1) get a one-week break before playing at Carthage College (JV) next Tuesday.
