People's Resource Center Benefit at the MAC Dec. 10
Award-winning singer-songwriter Gavin Coyle will help ring in the holiday season while benefitting local families in need as part of the 2011 Annual Christmas Concert to Benefit the People's Resource Center at 8 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 10, on the Mainstage of the McAninch Arts Center at College of DuPage, 425 Fawell Blvd. in Glen Ellyn.
Sponsored by the People's Resource Center in partnership with the MAC, “A Celtic Christmas” will feature Coyle's original tunes, traditional holiday favorites and Irish carols in an evening of holiday cheer sure to inspire.
Founded in 1975, PRC currently offers help to more than 8,200 DuPage County families in need. As the county's largest food pantry, the PRC provides free clothes and emergency assistance, as well as training programs in adult literacy, computers, art and job search assistance. PRC operates a number of different programs, including a food pantry, job development, and computer and art classes. These programs address the non-profit organization's mission of responding to basic human needs, promoting dignity and justice, and creating a future of hope and opportunity for residents of DuPage County through discovering and sharing personal and community resources.
More than 65 percent of the organization's $2 million budget comes from community donations and fundraising events, such as the upcoming MAC concert at College of DuPage. The annual benefit concert gives the MAC another opportunity to fulfill its mission to provide access to artistic presentations that enrich the cultural vitality of the community. The MAC regularly works with school groups, ethnic and other organizations to create new opportunities for artistic expression and to expose the community at large to the arts.
Tickets to Gavin Coyle's 2011 Annual Christmas Concert to Benefit the People's Resource Center are $25.
