Musical revue ‘In The Mood’ returns to CLC

“In the Mood,” a big band theatrical swing review that pays tribute to the 1940s, will be presented at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 23, in the Mainstage Theatre at the James Lumber Center for the Performing Arts at the College of Lake County.

The performance presents a combination of up-tempo, big band instrumentals and intimate, romantic ballads that set the mood for a future filled with promise, hope and prosperity. “In the Mood” played to an enthusiastic, sold-out audience in November 2010, at the James Lumber Center.

The show features a cast of 19, including singers, dancers and the String of Pearls Big Band Orchestra. The music, arrangements and costumes are authentic to the period. Touring since 1994, the show is favored by swing music aficionados, senior citizens who heard the music when it was originally performed and families of all ages. The performance pays tribute to musicians such as Glenn Miller, Tommy Dorsey, Artie Shaw, Benny Goodman, Harry James, Erskine Hawkins, The Andrews Sisters and Frank Sinatra. The show was featured in the National Archives’ 50th Anniversary of World War II commemoration and subsequent national tours. “In The Mood” was conceived and created by musical producer Bud Forrest.
