COD offers free counseling services workshops this fall

The College of DuPage Counseling and Advising Center will offer free workshops this fall on depression, goal setting, stress and anxiety. Programs are open to all students and community members and will meet in Student Resource Center, Room 1450A, at the Glen Ellyn campus, 425 Fawell Blvd.

“Time Management Strategies” will meet from 11 a.m. to noon Wednesday, Sept. 21. Participants will learn skills to prioritize tasks.

“Goal Setting and Attainment” will meet from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 29. Participants will learn simple strategies to successfully set and achieve goals.

“Life Got You Down?” will meet from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 5. Participants in this interactive workshop will learn some of the causes and symptoms of depression and will receive information on where to get help.

“I'm More Than Just a Label! Understanding Transgenderism” will meet from

11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 13. Participants will learn the difference between sexual orientation and gender identity.

“Do You Get or Earn Your Grades?” will meet from noon to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 19. Participants will learn to take control of their grades to get the most of their college experience.

“How to Determine What to Major in If You Are Undecided About Your Major” will meet 2 to 3:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 27. Participants will learn strategies for determining areas of interest and potential career paths.

“Test Taking Anxiety” will meet from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 7. Participants learn ways to reduce stress before and during tests.

“Coping With Holiday Stress Using Guided Imagery” will meet 6 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 16. Participants will learn the principles behind guided imagery and complete an imagery session.
