CLC passes balanced 2011-12 budget

College of Lake County board members Tuesday night passed a $96.79 million operating budget for the financial period that officially started July 1 and runs through June 30, 2012. Officials said the balanced budget represents a 5.73 percent increase over 2011. However, they said, the hike includes $2.66 million that is being set aside in a contingency account. Without the contingency, the actual expenditure increase is only 2.82 percent, according to David Agazzi, vice president for administrative affairs. “The budget balances our need to be fiscally responsible with the need to provide the resources to maintain the quality of the CLC educational experience,” said board Chairman William M. Griffin.
