Jacobs 5, Crystal Lake South 4 (8 innings): Kara Arceneaux recorded the eventual game-winning RBI as she brought home Nicky Chappa, who recorded a base hit and was moved over on a sacrifice bunt by Jackie Hengler, to lead the Golden Eagles (13-10, 6-4) to a Fox Valley Conference victory. The Gators were led offensively by Liz Adams (3-for-4) and Shannon McGinnis (double). Marissa Lombardo (6-3) went the distance in the circle for the Golden Eagles to earn the victory as she scattered 11 hits and struck out 6. Hannah Mahoney suffered the loss as she pitched the final 3 innings for the Gators.
Elgin 9, Streamwood 0: The Maroons (16-12, 5-8) pounded out 14 hits en route to a shutout of Upstate Eight Conference rival Streamwood (3-18, 2-10) on the road. Hannah Perryman recorded a 3-run home run to lead the Maroons while freshman sister Jennah Perryman had a solo home run. Kaitlyn Hedger had the Sabres’ lone extra basehit with a double and Bri Bodajewicz added a single. Hannah Perryman (8-4) earned the complete game shutout as she struck out 15 batters and allowed just 2 hits. Kelle Conquest suffered the loss.
St. Edward 14, Walther Lutheran 1 (5 innings): The Green Wave (13-8, 9-3) scored 14 runs on 13 hits as they claimed an easy Suburban Christian Conference victory on the road. Sarah Field (3 RBI) and Ashley Gradisher (3 runs scored) paced the Wave with 3 hits each while Kali Kossakowski (home run, 2 RBI) and Tarah McShane (triple, 3 RBI) each tallied 2 hits. Kelsey Richmond added 2 RBI. Morgin Coughlin (1-0) earned her first varsity victory in her first career start as she threw 3 innings while allowing just 2 hits and striking out 4.
DeKalb 12, Larkin 8: Despite carrying a 6-2 lead out of the second inning, the Royals (8-19) were unable to hold on as they were defeated by the Barbs in nonconference action. Corinne Wimmer led the Royals as she was 2-for-4 with a grand slam home run while Alex Buhrow, Megan Johnson, and Jaclyn Saurbaugh (double) each recorded 2 hits and an RBI. Johnson (3-6) suffered the loss on the mound as threw 3 innings.
