'Green' cash for College of Lake County

College of Lake County board members recently accepted a Congressionally-directed federal appropriation for $250,000 from the U.S. Department of Energy to sustain the Illinois Green Economy Network in partnership with the school.

The money will be used to fund personnel administering the green network grant through June 30. CLC's portion of the $250,000 federal appropriation is $155,168.

The network is a partnership among Illinois' 48 community colleges working to propel the state's green economy.

“We want to combine the educational expertise of community colleges with the economic power of the business sector to drive adoption of existing green technologies and practices and encourage innovation,” said CLC President Jerry Weber.
