Concert on Sunday to feature brass players

McHenry County College will continue its Second Sunday Concert Series at 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 10, featuring the Chicago Brass Band Players, a small member ensemble within the 30-piece Chicago Brass Band.

The Chicago Brass Band Players was founded in 2002 as an elite small ensemble within the 30-piece Chicago Brass Band. Both the band and the CBBP perform and compete in the Chicago area, in festivals throughout the U.S. and in international contests.

The CBBP won the small ensemble competition in 2003, 2005 and 2006 at the North American Brass Band Association and was runner-up in 2004 and 2010.

The group consists of 10 players, including four trumpets, one horn in F, four trombones, and one tuba.

The Chicago Brass Band Players will perform a varied repertoire, ranging from Renaissance through 20th century music. Their program, "10 on 10/10/10" will include "Grassauer Zweifacher," "The Girl with the Flaxen Hair," "Rhapsody in Blue," "The Pink Panther," and pieces from "Phillip Jones Story." The band's trombone quartet also will perform.
