Electronics recyclingA residential household electronics collection is 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday at the Lake County Division of Transportation facility, 600 W. Winchester Road, Libertyville. The event sponsored by the Solid Waste Agency of Lake County is free. Residents can dispose of unwanted appliances, televisions, computers and more. Visit www.swalco.org for a list of items that are accepted and not accepted. All plastic and metal is recycled and hard drives are ground up and recycled with the metal.Hawthorn Woods fun festHawthorn Woods is hosting its second annual fall family fun fest from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Sept. 18 at village aquatic center, 94 Midlothian Road. Bring your camera and take a photo of your child with the public works trucks, snow plows and police and fire department vehicles. Activities include an open swim, arts and crafts table, McGruff the Crime Dog, search and rescue dogs and free refreshments. Canned good donations are encouraged. The event is set to begin at 4 p.m. in Building C. The Lake County branch of the NAACP is organizing the event.Dog rescue at Lake Zurich salonSalon Coccole' Spa in Lake Zurich will hold its third dog-rescue event Saturday. The salon is at 591 N. Rand Road. The event will be in support of Almost Home dog shelter. Almost Home representatives will have many dogs in foster care available for adoption. Face painting and dog nail trimming will be available for $5 each, with proceeds going to the shelter. There also will be a $2-per-ticket drawing for a Salon Coccole' basket.
