Wauconda outlasts Lakes
Erinn Hellweg pounded 11 kills, and Megan Tallman added 7 kills and 17 assists, as Wauconda's girls volleyball team outlasted host Lakes 25-22, 26-24 Wednesday.
Wauconda improved to 7-4 overall and 3-0 in the North Suburban Prairie Division.
Cara Nance also had 7 kills for the Bulldogs. She and Ava Wilhelm each served 2 aces.
Libertyville d. Zion-Benton: Catie Steffen and Kerry Risley had 6 and 4 kills, respectively, as the undefeated Wildcats won 25-16, 25-20 in North Suburban Lake action.
Cindy Zhou served 4 aces and dished out 17 assists for Libertyville (9-0, 3-0), which also got 12 digs from Kristen Webb.
Stevenson d. Lake Forest: Carlee Berland slammed 8 kills for the Patriots in their 25-18, 25-23 win in North Suburban Lake action. Shefali Arora added 5 kills on 10-of-10 hitting for Stevenson (7-4, 1-1), and Rachel Baader had 13 digs.
Lake Forest's Tori Lanzillotti had 10 kills.
Grant d. Vernon Hills: Becca McMullin's 11 kills led the Bulldogs to a 25-12, 20-25, 25-23 win in a North Suburban Prairie thriller.
Sophia Trbojevich was 67-of-67 setting with 19 assists for Grant, and Sarah Berthiaume notched 13 digs and 3 aces.
Shannon Nugent had 6 kills for Vernon Hills (7-10, 2-1), and Jenn Claussen served 5 aces.
Lake Zurich d. Fremd: Amanda Orchard had 11 kills for the Bears (7-3), who won the nonconference match 25-14, 25-20.
