Bodine, Heelan lead Warren; Stevenson falls

Warren's baseball team won again Wednesday, getting home runs from Tim Bodine and Scott Heelan in a 7-1 win over visiting Lake Zurich.

The victory hiked Warren's record to 23-3 and 7-1 in the North Suburban Lake Division, while Lake Zurich fell to 14-13 and 3-5.

Kevin Colburn and Jake Economos each had a double, single and an RBI for the Blue Devils, while Bodine also had 2 hits. Matt Dowd delivered a triple.

On the mound, Ryan Kennedy (6-1) pitched 61/3 innings, allowing 12 hits but striking out six.

Lake Zurich's offensive attack was paced by Dan Johnsen (3-for-4, double), Kyle Sanders (2-for-4), Jeremy Reusch (2-for-3) and Tim Bavester (2-for-3, double).

New Trier 5, Stevenson 2: The Trevians snapped the Patriots' 18-game winning streak, snapping a 2-2 tie by scoring 3 runs in the bottom of the fifth.

Kyle Ruchim suffered the loss for Stevenson (23-2).

Grayslake North 6, Woodstock 2: Matt Robinson homered and went 3-for-4 with 2 RBI for the Knights in the Fox Valley Conference game.

Brandon Fern was 3-for-4 for Grayslake North (6-20, 5-10), while Andrew Solis and Colin Laughlin were both 2-for-3. Tony Nochim earned the win.

Antioch 20, Grant 16: Joe Gregory and Andy Green each had a home run and 4 RBI for the Sequoits. Brett Prather added 3 hits, while Gregory and Paul DeJong had doubles.

Antioch improved to 9-13 overall and 4-4 in the North Suburban Prairie.

Lakes 10, North Chicago 0: The Eagles were led offensively by Ryan Noon (2-for-3, double, 3 RBI, 4 runs) and Jake Wisniewski (2-for-4, 3 RBI).

Jeff Verenski was the winning pitcher for Lakes (16-9, 6-2).

Vernon Hills 12, Round Lake 1: Scott Kempel allowed only 1 runs over 5 innings while striking out 12, as the Cougars cruised. Kempel helped himself at the plate by going 3-for-4 with 4 RBI. Zach Kisley (triple, double, RBI) and Brian Palmer both had 2 hits apiece. M.J. Crowley, Eric Oberwise and Tyler Feece also knocked in runs.

Carmel 6, St. Viator 5: Jim Spagna's 2-run single with none out in the bottom of the eighth allowed the Corsairs to beat the Lions for the second time in as many days.

Kyle Bessa and Derek Jordan had doubles for Carmel (19-4, 10-0 ESCC). Spagna finished 2-for-5, while Bessa and Tim Hendricks also had a pair of hits.

Grayslake Central 17, Woodstock North 2: Mike Gentile had a double, triple, 3 RBI and 3 runs scored for the Rams in the Fox Valley Conference game.

Grayslake Central (17-6) got 2 hits apiece from Joe Schaiper, winning pitcher Matt Murphy, Andrew Hosford and Austin Miller. Angelo Gargano and Jackson White contributed doubles.
