Ruchim, Stevenson hammer Fremd
Kyle Ruchim raked.
The Northwestern-bound senior slugged 2 home runs and knocked in 7 runs, as Stevenson's baseball team pounded host Fremd 21-10 in five innings in Palatine on Thursday.
It was the 15th win in a row for Stevenson (20-1).
Brandon Waters was 3-for-4 with 2 doubles and 4 RBI for the Patriots, while Barry Saks went 4-for-4 with 3 RBI. Ruchim finished 2-for-2, and Teddy Heiser and Kory Cutler contributed doubles.
Brian Boyle tossed 2 shutout innings in relief for the win.
Carmel 21, Lake Forest 13: Tim Hendricks homered and singled twice for the visiting Corsairs in the nonconference game.
Paul Poirier led Carmel's 22-hit attack with 4 hits, including 3 doubles. Chris Divarco's 3 hits included a pair of doubles. Alex May also had 3 hits, including a double.
Daniel Mooney notched the win for Carmel (15-4).
Wauconda 11, Round Lake 5: Erik Maki finished a single shy of the cycle for the host Bulldogs in the North Suburban Prairie game, as he went 3-for-3 with a homer, triple and double.
Tom Tyrrell and Dan Tanzillo each had 2 doubles for Wauconda (14-10). Jeff Jackson, Tim Matesi and Jake Ziolkowski had them as well. Kevin Fessler finished 2-for-4 with 2 RBI, while Ziolkowski was also 2-for-4.
Tanzillo pitched 6 innings, striking out 13 for the win.
For Round Lake, Angel Velasquez (2 doubles, 2 RBI) and Chris Rana (double, run) were both 3-for-4. Dylan Havrilak was 2-for-4 with a double and 2 runs scored.
Mundelein 12, Grant 0: Mike O'Donoghue was 2-for-3 with 3 RBI for the Mustangs.
