Neuqua Valley pounds Plainfield North

Neuqua Valley 10-20, Plainfield North 0-0: Jenna Marsalli hit for the cycle and drove in 5 runs for No. 14 Neuqua Valley (12-7) in Game 1. Colleen Hohman (4-3) struck out 12. In the second game Marsalli went 5-for-5 with 2 doubles, 3 runs batted in and 3 runs scored. Chelsea Mueller went 4-for-4 with 3 doubles, 5 RBI and 4 runs scored.

Lake Park 9-12, Oak Park 8-8: Carly Willert went 2-for-2 with a double, 2 runs scored and an RBI, and a 7-run second inning in Game 2 keyed a Lancers sweep in Oak Park. In the first game Kelly Mieszala went 2-for-3 with a double, 3 RBI and run scored and Alyssa Robison 2-for-3 with 2 runs scored and 2 RBI. Vanessa Wegner homered for No. 7 Lake Park (16-3), which has won nine straight.

Naperville Central 4-3, York 1-1: Winning pitchers Kristina Vizza (3-3) and Alyssa Wunderlich (8-3) each struck out seven to lead a Redhawks sweep in Elmhurst. Katie Walker went 3-for-4 and scored 2 runs for No. 18 Naperville Central (11-6) in Game 1. Kelsey Gonzalez went 3-for-4 with a double and scored 2 runs in the second game. Sophia Kelly homered in the first game for York and went 2-for-3 with a double in the second.

Naperville North 1-4, Oswego East 2-2: Jess Stapleton's two-out RBI double in a 2-run Huskies sixth inning in Game 2 salvaged a doubleheader split in Naperville. Caitlyn Warren and Emily Dieckmann both went 2-for-3 with an RBI. Warren was 3-for-3 for Naperville North (10-7) in the first game.

Downers Grove South 7-11, WW South 5-0: The No. 5 Mustangs (14-1) rallied with a 6-run sixth inning to edge the host Tigers (11-9) in Game 1. Katy LaCivita and Dana Gawel both homered. Marissa Mersch went 3-for-4 and scored 2 runs. In Game 2 Mersch went 4-for-5 with 2 doubles, 2 RBI and 3 runs scored and LaCivita homered.

Wheaton Academy 8-13, Walther Lutheran 1-5: Paige Huizenga (9-6) twirled a five-inning no-hitter in Game 1, striking out nine, and came back to fan 12 batters in the second game for the Warriors in Melrose Park.

Sophomore Bitsy Weaver led off the first game with her first career homer. Olivia Tilly doubled twice and hit her sixth homer of the year for Wheaton Academy (11-6, 2-4 Suburban Christian Conference) in Game 2.
