MCC offers information on manufacturing courses

Adults 18 and older who are unemployed, stuck in a dead end job or those pursuing their GED or enrolled in ESL classes and are interested in starting a new career in manufacturing are invited to a Career Overview Orientation for Basic Manufacturing at McHenry County College from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 26, or 9 a.m. to noon Wednesday, Jan. 27, in Room B166-167 at the college, 8900 Route 14, Crystal Lake.

McHenry County College's Flexible and Sustainable Training Initiative Project will address employer-identified occupational training needs within McHenry County, including Basic Manufacturing and Computer Numerical Controlled Machining.

All courses are noncredit, entry-level educational courses provided at no cost to qualifying students. The target population for the FAST Initiative Project includes under- and unemployed residents, the county's growing immigrant population, GED students and recent high school graduates. Course participants also will be offered job search and placement services upon completion of their training.

MCC's Basic Manufacturing course will begin Feb. 9 and runs for 16 weeks. Anyone interested in this course should plan on attending the Career Overview Orientation Jan. 26 or 27. A question-and-answer session will follow. Refreshments will be provided.

The orientation is free and open to the public. Reservations are not required, but strongly encouraged. MCC's CNC will begin at a later date and will include Career Overview Orientation sessions specific to each course.
