Kudos for Lake Zurich cross country:
Lake Zurich Village President Suzanne Branding issued a proclamation honoring the high school's boys cross-country team at a meeting Monday night. In the document, Branding said the Lake Zurich High School cross-country squad has participated in three conference championships in four years, along with two regional championships that led to appearances in the state finals. Branding said the teenagers should be commended for their hard work and outstanding career over four years. Village Clerk Wende Dau read the proclamation into the official record. Branding offered Tootsie Pops to the students before they departed the village board session.
Com Ed work:
ComEd will begin removing vegetation under the transmission lines in its right of way that crosses through Grosse Pointe Village and Olde Grove Farms in Vernon Hills. Once removed, a machine will grind and cut the vegetation at ground level. Next spring, the stumps and any sprouts will be treated with a herbicide to retard growth and then over seeded with prairie grass. Contact (847) 816-5401 or jeffery.batara@comed.com.
