Tuesday's Fox Valley roundup
The South Elgin girls volleyball team picked up its first Upstate Eight Conference win of the season Tuesday, downing Larkin 25-14, 25-19.
Alyssa Krause paced South Elgin's offense registering 10 kills while Courtney Sanocki added 18 assists. Katelyn Stonecipher and Erica Williams led the Storm (7-15-1, 1-5) defense recording a team high 8 digs a piece.
Crystal Lake South d. Jacobs: The Gators (17-3, 5-1) continued to stay hot in Fox Valley (Valley) play defeating the Golden Eagles 25-15, 25-14. Caitlin Schumacher recorded a team leading 11 kills for the Gators while Brittany Atkinson added 6 kills. Chelsea Sirovatka chipped in with 18 assists. Jacobs' offense was paced by Taylor Lesner with 6 kills and Mattie Stearns led the defensive effort with 13 digs.
Cary-Grove d. Huntley: The Trojans (20-4, 6-0) remained undefeated in Fox Valley (Valley) play as they downed the Red Raiders 25-8, 25-21 at home. Kelly Lamberti led the Trojan offense with 9 kills while Casey Grochinkski paced the defense with 15 digs. The Red Raiders were led by Amy Dion with 7 assists and 9 digs.
Hampshire d. North Boone: The Whip-Purs (22-2, 6-0) continue to dominate in Big Northern East Conference play as they cruised to an easy 25-13, 25-11 victory on the road. Kara Wehrs recorded a team high 10 kills while Leigh-Anne Libby chipped in 14 assists in the victory.
Elgin d. Streamwood: The Sabres hung close in this 3-game Upstate Eight match but were unable to come away with a victory as the Maroons defeated the Sabres 28-26, 17-25, 25-16. Melissa Oehlerking paced the Sabres with 11 kills and 9 digs. Faustyna Koszyk (3 kills, 2 blocks) and Julissa Alvarez (2 kills) also contributed.
McHenry d. Dundee-Crown: The Chargers (7-13, 0-6) suffered a tough 25-8, 25-11 loss in Fox Valley (Valley) action Tuesday night. Alyssa Sarrazine and Rebecca Wika recorded 2 kills a piece while Lindsay Mosher added 4 assists.
Rockford Christian Life d. Westminster Christian: The Warriors (17-9, 3-4) came up just short in this Northeastern Athletic Conference matchup as they were defeated by Rockford Christian Life 25-20, 22-25, 25-12 at home. Jessica Benson (8 kills, 3 aces, 9 digs), Katie Moeller (6 kills, 1 ace, 3 digs), and Hannah Graves (4 kills, 17 assists, 10 digs) all contributed for the Warriors in the loss.
