Stevenson slams Rolling Meadows
Stevenson d. Rolling Meadows: Carlee Berland and Anastasio Borozenets slammed 5 and 4 kills, respectively, as the Patriots won the nonconference match 25-20, 25-14.
Setters Maggie Lundstrom and Jenna Przybyla dished out 8 and 6 assists, respectively. Amber Hughes led Stevenson (2-0) with 6 digs.
McHenry d. Grayslake C.: Lydia Boyle had 2 kills and Emily Anderson served 3 aces and lofted 5 assists in the Rams' 25-20, 25-12, season-opening loss.
"Our youth showed through tonight in first-game jitters," Grayslake Central coach Jason Janczak said. "Our passing wasn't as good as it needed to be, and we kept serving long. Tonight showed us what we needed to work on, and the team will be ready to work on it."
CL South d. Grayslake North: Sarah Walker served 2 aces, Brianna Leon recorded 2 kills and 3 digs for the Knights in their 25-6, 25-11 defeat.
Katie McGrath added 4 digs for Grayslake North, while Lauren Trahan was 17-of-17 setting with 2 assists.
Deerfield d. Lakes: Mandy Fischer had 3 kills for the Eagles in their 25-15, 25-11 loss.
Lakes (0-2) also got 2 kills from Ashley Sodt.
"Deerfield is a great defensive team," Eagles coach Carla Thompson said. "We did some good things too. We were able to make some adjustments on the court and change things up a bit. We passed and dug much better today than in our first game. We are struggling with illness and injury right now. We hope to have all of our players healed and healthy by next week."
Round Lake d. Alden Hebron: Stephanie Infante delivered 3 aces and recorded a team-high 13 digs, as the Panthers won 25-21, 22-25, 25-21.
Wauconda d. Marengo: Maddie Westman had 7 kills and 11 digs, as the Bulldogs won 25-20, 25-14.
Wauconda (1-1) also received 13 assists from Megan Tallman and 13 digs from Michelle Waltenburg. Erin Hellweg hammered 4 kills, while Ali Morrison added three and also served 3 aces.
Palatine d. Grant: The Bulldogs dropped a 25-18, 25-22 decision.
Grant's Becca McMullin had 6 kills and 3 solo blocks, and Erin Beskow served a pair of aces.
