With 22 years of banking experience, Brian C. England was appointed banking center president for the Naperville location of Leaders Bank, which is slated for a mid-2008 opening.

The Music Institute of Chicago appointed James Setapen director of instrumental ensembles, responsible for overseeing the growth and development of the instrumental ensemble program and to serve as conductor for the academy's chamber orchestra.

The National Sporting Goods Association, Mount Prospect, elected Matt Carlson to succeed the retiring Jim Faltinek as president and chief executive officer. Carlson previously served as the city administrator for Delafield, Wis., and was assistant village manager for three of his 11-year tenure at the village of Glenview.

Lavelle Law Ltd., Palatine, appointed attorney Matthew J. Sheahin to partner in the firm. Sheahin works in the areas of commercial and business litigation, contract and lease disputes, mechanics lien cases, collection cases and estate planning and real estate transactions.

Ann Marzano and Dan Merrill of EcoWise Inc., a residential roofing contractor in Wayne, earned the certified graduate remodelor designation from the National Association of Home Builders Remodelors Council.

With eight years of valuation experience, Timothy J. Lubbe joined Dresner Partners, Chicago, as manager, valuation services.

Shawna Egan, president and founder of the Cary Children's Center for Autism, will be honored in April as a Lincolnland Legend, a program of Illinois Dollars for Scholars, which encourages Illinois student to honor people who inspire and motivate them. Egan was nominated by Elizabeth Tuohy, a senior at Prairie Ridge High School.

Margie Jones, a certified QuickBooks adviser with Account On Us, was recently certified in bookkeeping and nonprofit management.

Merlin 2,000,000 Mile Shops awarded owners Jeff Strauss of Elk Grove Village and Dominick Loizzo of Addison with its 2007 We Care Service Award. Loizzo and Strauss received the award for having shops with outstanding customer service records.

With more than 28 years of commercial banking experience, Robert Swanson was appointed vice president and group head, North division, middle market banking, at Fifth Third Bank, Rolling Meadows. Swanson previously served as senior vice president and division head for LaSalle Bank N.A. He is a member of the Barrington Kiwanis Club; serves as treasurer of the Old Town School of Folk Music and previously served on the board for Barrington Youth Baseball and Softball.

Lawson Products Inc., Des Plaines, appointed Harry Dochelli executive vice president of sales and marketing. Dochelli most recently served as executive vice president, North America Contract Sales for OfficeMax Inc., in Naperville.

An Allstate affiliate, Sterling Autobody Centers in Northbrook, named Allan Robinson president, responsible for overseeing the operation for 60 auto body stores in 16 states and eight metropolitan locations. Additionally, Allstate, Northbrook, promoted Sam Whiteman to replace Robinson as claims field director of the Midwest region. Whiteman will oversee Allstate's claims operations in Illinois, Minnesota and Wisconsin.

Robert C. Greulich of Burr Ridge, a financial professional with Oak Brook-based The Pinnacle Planning Group LLC, has qualified for the Million Dollar Round Table's Top of the Table, its highest level.

Jerry Smith of Des Plaines was named facility manager for the new Chicago plant of Coca-Cola. Smith, a 34-year veteran of Coca-Cola, began his career with the company in 1974, as a driver on a truck, later serving as facility manager in Park City.

Midwest Technical Consultants Inc., a Naperville-based surveying and consulting firm, named Emilio Barbieri of Plainfield vice president and director of sales.

The Illinois Real Estate Lawyers Association, Arlington Heights, re-elected Wheaton residents Joseph R. Fortunato Jr., a partner in Fortunato, Knobbe, Davenport & Arnold Ltd. in Westmont, and Mary E. McSwain, a partner in the Wheaton law firm of Cerne & McSwain P.C., to its board of directors. Also joining the board of directors is Lisle attorney Dennis R. Hip Salon, Schaumburg, announced that colorist Julie Petri will join her former colleagues as part of its creative team. Petri, who completed color training in Michigan, was a founder member of Heidi's Salon in Woodfield Shopping Center before moving back to Michigan, where she was instrumental in creating the color education program for the Design 1 Salon and Day Spa in Muskegon.

Mount Prospect resident Leonard W. Wiatr joined PrivateBancorp Inc., as chief compliance and regulatory affairs officer. He was also named managing director and chief compliance and regulatory affairs officer of The PrivateBank, Chicago.

Long-term care insurance specialist Sandy Essex is now authorized to offer AARP endorsed long-term care insurance policies in Illinois. Essex provides information and analysis on long term care planning through Genworth Life.

BlK and Co., certified public accountants and management consultants, merged with Folisi, Samz & Co. of Schaumburg and Soprano & Associates Ltd. of Arlington Heights. The combined firms will have offices in Palatine, Libertyville and North Barrington.
