This photo was taken at the Itasca carnival. I decided to try something different from just a time exposure of the Ferris wheel. This is a 3 second exposure, during the exposure I zoomed the lens 24 mm-120 mm to get a different effect.I love the new digital lighting on the wheel because you never know what you will get till the exposure is over.

This amazing cloud was at Wrigley Field during a rain delay at the August 3 game against the Arizona Diamondbacks. Unfortunately, we lost the game in the last inning, but it was fun to see the Cubbie bear in attendance celebrating the 2016 World Series Cubs.

This is a black swallowtail butterfly I fostered from egg to butterfly in my home and released in my backyard on August 7, 2017. I placed it in the flox plants to give it a chance for a sip of nectar before it went on its way into the big, wide world. I love how perfect its wings are and the contrast of colors between the flowers and its wings. This was the first black swallowtail I'd ever fostered, as I usually foster monarchs.

The sun sets on the Fox River on July 29th when the river was closed to all boat traffic because of the heavy rains and flooding in Lake County. It is a rare occurrence for the river not to have boat traffic in the middle of summer.
