Elgin church to host post-election community healing meditation, prayer service

In response to the deep divisions in our nation, First Congregational Church of Elgin, 256 E. Chicago St., will host a special candlelight healing meditation and prayer service at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 10. The service is open to anyone in the community interested in quiet reflection and prayer to begin healing a nation divided by the events of this year's election.

The Rev. Paris Donehoo, senior pastor of FCC, shared that it is his desire that no matter which candidate wins office, that individuals begin to heal from the anxiety, anger and resentments developed over the election and that the divide within our nation begins to diminish as we all work towards unity and solidarity. The community meditation service is one step in that direction for individuals to begin the healing process.

The church hopes to continue these sessions as needed throughout the next year.
