Glen Ellyn Chorus Gets Ready for the Holidays

The Village Vocal Chords chorus (the “VVC”), championship women's chorus based in Glen Ellyn, is already busy planning for the holidays. To kick off the season, they will be traveling to Windsor, Ontario, CA, to compete in Harmony Inc.'s international contest. They will be competing for a medalist position with 22 other choruses from their parent organization. The VVC's have won this championship an unprecedented 18 times. The chorus competition will take place on Saturday, November 16, following the quartet contest on Friday, November 15, at which they will be represented by three of their quartets.

Shortly after their return from Canada, the VVC, who rehearse at St. Thomas United Methodist Church, in Glen Ellyn, will be holding two special Christmas Guest Nights, on November 19 and 26. Any woman who attends these two events (7:15 pm – 8:00 pm) will be eligible to sing with the chorus at their Christmas concert on Monday, December 2. That concert will begin at 7:30 pm, also at St. Thomas UMC, and is the first of several Christmas performances by the VVC in the western suburbs. All profits from the concert will be used by the

United Methodist Women of St. Thomas to support their mission projects.

The chorus will also have a special evening on Tuesday, December 10, as they will be delivering Singing Christmas Cards to their friends and families. Orders for the two-song “phone-gram” can be placed through the chorus website, www.villagevocalchords.com.

The Village Vocal Chords chorus is a local chapter of Harmony, Inc., an international, nonprofit, and educational organization for women barbershop singers. Chorus members hail from all over the Chicagoland area. The chorus is always interested in expanding its membership, and, if you are a woman who loves to sing, they will help you “find your voice”.
