Outdoor Pool in Community Park to Remain closed for Summer 2013

The Addison Park District has been diligently working to open the outdoor pool in Community Park; however damage to the pool structure and underground piping is extensive. The pool was severely damaged as a result of heavy rains in April. As the repair process has progressed, issues with the pool's drain pipes were discovered. The repair process for the underground drainage system will take the remainder of the summer to complete. Sadly, the Addison Park District will be unable to open the outdoor pool for the 2013 season.

The Park District Board of Commissioners and staff are committed to repairing the 37-year old pool with the intent to open the Family Aquatic Center for the 2014 season.

All pool passes will be refunded for the remainder of the season. The Park District is making arrangements with other local aquatic centers to accommodate Addison residents.

The splash pad in Community Park is open for the season. Children ages 10 and younger can cool off in the zero-depth water features for the duration of the summer. There is a daily gate fee for children entering the splash pad and adult chaperones are free. Attendees will be given a wristband and allowed to re-enter the splash pad throughout the day. Splash Pad birthday parties are available this summer: call (630)233-7275 for availability. The splash pad is open daily between 12:00-6:00 p.m.

Swimming lessons will continue to be held at Club Fitness for the summer. Youth lessons will be held on weekday nights. Because indoor space is limited, families are encouraged to register early to avoid placement on a waiting list.

The Addison Park District is dedicated to providing the highest quality recreational opportunities and open space for everyone. The 2013 Summer Fun Guide is available in each facility and online at www.addisonparks.org with leisure activities for all ages and lifestyles.
