Library storytimes branch out to the west

The Fox River Valley Public Library District is pleased to welcome preschoolers to the first storytime at the Randall Oaks Branch Library.

The branch is located on the lower level of the Randall Oaks Recreation Center at 500 N. Randall Road in West Dundee, just south of Randall Oaks Petting Zoo.

The story times will be at 10:30 a.m. on Mondays, Feb. 11 and 25. Children and their caregivers can drop-in and enjoy stories, songs and more. The storytime is free, and no registration is required.

The Dundee library, at 555 Barrington Ave., East Dundee, will resume its popular story times in February.

Baby Play Group will resume at 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 11, and will continue every Monday through April 1. This hourlong program is a wonderful opportunity for parents to socialize with other adults while their little ones play safely under their supervision. Come and find toys to play with, board books to read, puppet friends and other fun activities galore. No registration is necessary.

Preschoolers are welcome to join in the fun at Alphabet Soup Storytime. This free program is offered at 10:30 a.m. Tuesdays and Wednesdays from Feb. 12 through Apr. 3. The theme is different every week, and activities will include puppets, stories, activities and songs. No registration is necessary.

“Milk and Cookie Storytime” will once again be hosted by Panera Bread, 2484 N. Randall Road in Elgin. This special program is just for 3- to 6-year olds accompanied by an adult. Stories will be presented by librarians, and each child will receive a free milk and cookie, compliments of Panera.

This program will meet at 9:30 a.m. on the following Mondays: Feb. 11 and 25, and Mar. 4 and 18. The program is free, but registration is required. Visit the “Events & Registration” page at www.frvpld.info, call (847) 428-3661, ext. 6011, or stop by the Children’s Desk at the library.

For Spanish-speaking families, the children’s department will be presenting Programa de Cuentos en Español at 7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 4. Children of all ages and their families will enjoy a half-hour of stories, activities and songs, all in Spanish. No registration is required for this free program.
